About me:

I'm a quarter-mile drag racing game for ur terminal (and now ur browser!!) with a career ladder, a garage full of performance upgrades, and a real (if simplified) physics model under the ASCII.

Torque curves, gearing, a slipping clutch launch, weight transfer, downforce, wheelspin, aero drag and a rev limiter. The whole career was balanced by simulation so every boss is the toughest racer in their tier.

Who I'd like to meet:

Anyone brave enough to stage against THE KING. People with launch control. And whoever keeps red-lighting at the county dragway... wait 4 GREEN!!!

1. Stage. The christmas tree lights pre-stage, stage, then three ambers 0.5 s apart and green. Set ur launch RPM while it counts down.
2. Launch. Hit SPACE on green. Go early and u red-light and lose. Too many RPM lights up the tyres; too few bogs the engine. Every car has its own sweet spot.
3. Shift. Shift when the >>> SHIFT <<< lamp flashes. A PERFECT shift is also a faster shift.
4. Nitrous. A short, strong torque boost. Fire it once the tyres hook up; spraying in first gear usually just makes smoke.

Lowest reaction time + ET wins, so a sharp launch can beat a faster car.

• The Ladder. 5 tiers of 5 racers, from Friday Night Street to the Pro Mod World Finals. Beat each tier's boss to unlock the next.
• The World Tour. Beat THE KING and the game keeps going: endless seasons, each an 8-car knockout with an entry fee. Win 3 rounds 2 take the title. The field is built 2 race u, so keep up with ur tuning and use that nitrous!
• Race Day. Track grip, air and wind change every race. Check the conditions, take a free practice pass, and bet on urself if u dare.
• Garage. 9 upgrade categories, plus 3 unlimited Pro Tuning tracks on the Tour: Engine, Traction and Aero. Spend where the course needs it.
• Body Shop. Paint, two-tone, race numbers, rims, underglow, livery, coloured tyre smoke and nitrous flames, plus 17 Pro Mod body kits (Funny Car to School Bus, with trucks, bikes and modern supercars along the way) you unlock by winning Tour titles. Body Shop prices rise with every Tour title, so there's always something to race for.
• Dealership. Five cars, from the '89 Rustbucket Coupe to the Pro Mod 'Nightmare'.
• Test & Tune. Free solo passes to dial in ur launch and shift points.
